About us

The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a very unique church because it brings together numerous ministries to perform the single task of bringing more souls to Christ. Our beloved denomination allows youth to be as involved in kingdom building as any other organization. The Young People’s & Children Division (YPD) is more than just a meeting ground for  socializing and fundraising, but rather it is a place where Christian ideals can be nurtured and experienced. The words “I don’t need you” are never uttered in the church because African Methodism recognizes that we are all parts of one body. The body of believers extends beyond the parameters of African Methodism and YPD is but a blood vessel, pumping the blood of Christ through the heart of the nations.

The A.M.E. Church is very closely organized and the church as a whole is referred to as The Connectional Church by which all parts are tied together, connected in such a way as to provide for unified and coordinated action. From the General Conference, the Council of Bishops, the General Boards and Departments, the programs of the Connectional Church are carried out through Episcopal Districts, Conferences and the host of members found in the local churches. Bishops, general officers, presiding elders, pastors, and lay members carry out all Connectional Program.

The local church is the pivotal unit around which our connectional organization revolves. It would not be erroneous to say that the local church is the most important unit in the connectional set-up. When any of these units fail, the connectional strength and effectiveness are endangered.

To gain a better understanding to the mission and purpose of the YPD, understanding the history, purpose, and beliefs of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is necessary.

  • The Mission

The Mission of the AME Church is to minister to the spiritual, social, and physical development of all people.
